How do nudge bars provide protection?
In an accident, nudge bars offer protection to the front end of your vehicle and can potentially reduce the damage your ute or 4WDs incurs, as well as lessening the likelihood of serious injury to vehicle passengers and/or pedestrians.
Nudge bars are designed to cover around half of the front grille, and offer protection in minor collisions as well as being used to push or nudge a vehicle out of the way if your access is being impeded.

Are nudge bars and bullbars the same?
Although both are designed to protect the front end and grille of your vehicle, the primary difference between nudge bars and bullbars is the construction.
While a nudge bar is lightweight and produced using industrial grade aluminium tubing, a bullbar is more heavy duty and constructed from steel. A bullbar will also cover the entire width of the front end, while a nudge bar will usually only cover half of the grille and does not protrude as far as a bullbar does.
In addition, bullbars give you the option of attaching additional headlights or fog lights, which is generally not possible on nudge bars.
If you regularly drive off road in rural Australia, or in areas where coming into contact with animals is a possibility, bullbars are likely to be a safer option than nudge bars, as they will better protect the front end of your vehicle, as well as the driver and any passengers.
Airbag compatible nudge bars
At AllRacks, all of the nudge bars that we design, manufacture and fit are airbag compatible.
On vehicles fitted with airbags, a sensor (known as an accelerometer) will usually be mounted behind the front bumper, or behind the radiator or a headlight so that it can be triggered when required .
However, if a nudge bar is not designed specifically with airbag deployment in mind, it can impede activation.
